Curriculum

The Curriculum at Rainford High offers a breadth, balance and coherence of study that is underpinned by the requirements of the National Curriculum but also meeting the needs of learners preparing for a rapidly changing 21st Century World. We strive to offer a personalised approach to study that allows students to focus on developing all round skills such as organisation, literacy, numeracy and team work alongside problem solving and planning that support academic learning and development across their journey to be life long learners.

The KS3 curriculum runs from Y7-9 with students taught in ability groupings based on a vertical approach to ensure students needs can be met most effectively in the core subjects of English , Maths and Science. KS4 choices are based on guided pathways however every student is considered individually as to the most appropriate path for them to ensure they are in the best position possible to achieve their personal goals.

Make the Right Choice: Year 9 Options Booklet

The Year 9 Options booklet provides a summary of all courses available to students at KS4, including GCSEs.

It is designed to help you make the most appropriate decision based on relevant information and informed reasoning. It also provides you with a reference booklet that students should continue to use throughout their GCSE courses.
