Diary Day 3: Alice was amazed at the Tudor building and took many photographs
Saturday 12th July, 2008
3rd Day
This morning we had a lie in and since the weather didn’t look too good we decided to go for ‘plan D’ and visit somewhere local. We all agreed on a visit to Knowsley Safari Park. After a quick dash into town we eventually arrived at Knowsley at around 10:10. Being one of the first in the park we had a clear view of all the animals. The cooler weather helped and the animals more active. It wasn’t long into the Safari before we entered the lion enclosure. The baby lions were very playful and coming close to the car, whilst older lions were walking freely in the trees and cars. Later on through the drive we went into the monkey enclosure. As soon as we entered, two monkeys jumped on top of the car for a ride. Alice thought this was brilliant. We could see them clearly as my dad’s car had a glass roof. This was great fun and we ended up going round this enclosure two times. We also saw lots of deer, some camels, rhinoceros and an ostrich which was trying to eat the car. A large antelope decided to rest its head on our windscreen. Alice thought “This was amazing.” The drive lasted over 2 hours and we finished our visit off with a trip to the elephant and giraffe house and the souvenir shop. At 1:15 we headed off for lunch at Pizza Hut. After lunch we then visited Speke Hall arriving at 3:00.
It wasn’t quite the castle that we had in mind; however we all enjoyed our visit. Alice was amazed at the Tudor building and took many photographs. The house was over 400 years hold and the guides were very thorough in explaining the history. Our visit to Speke Hall finished at 5:45 when we decided to head home and sort ourselves out for the trip into Wales the following day.
