Thank you to everyone who supported the non-uniform day in aid of Children in Need on Friday 16th November by giving a £1 donation.
Various other activities went on in school throughout the day to raise money but the main attraction was the ‘Rainford-Factor Competition’ organised by students from the Sixth Form College Council …….
“Just over a week ago, we decided that we were going to organise a talent show to raise money for Children in Need. There wasn’t much time and a lot of organising needed to be done, but it was made possible with the help of many students and members of staff.
Over 50 acts turned up to audition in the College on Wednesday lunchtime, so it was very hard to narrow it down to just 6 acts. With no full rehearsal beforehand, the acts prepared to go on stage as the Sports Hall filled with masses of students and teachers.
Mrs Aylward got the show off to a good start with her version of “Bleeding Love” followed by six great acts from the school. Whilst the Judges - Louis (Mr Marvin), Simon (Mr Halewood) and Sharon (Mrs Hindley) - struggled to decide on the winner, because they were all very good, the English Department spiced up the Sports Hall with their own version of “Stop”.
Congratulations and well done to the ‘R-Factor Winner 2007’ - (Year 7) for her version of “Ugly” by the Sugababes.
A big thank you to the Candygirls, Heather, Abby, Beckie, Nathan, Helly Squad, Mrs Aylward, the Spice Girls (Miss Fleming, Miss Bates, Miss Smith, Mrs Crinigan and Miss Clowes) and the Judges for taking part and everyone else who was involved behind the scenes. Also thank you to everyone who came to watch and support the performers … you managed to raise over £500!!”

Congratulations and thank you to everyone for a fantastic effort throughout the day ….. final total raised ….. £1800!!
