New Build (BSF)

Second Phase Complete – Excellent East Block!

In October 2012, the second phase of our building project was completed and the English, History, Religious Studies, Business Studies and Modern Foreign Language departments started teaching in their new homes. The third and final building phase will be complete in February 2013 with landscaping works to follow afterwards.

Excellent Place to Work and Study

Compared to the “old” version, the refurbished East Block is now an excellent place in which to work and study. MFL staff are delighted with their four new rooms which are bright and spacious, as is the rest of the building, enabling students to learn in a comfortable and pleasant environment. Staff and students are also making much use of the break-out area for group and pair work and for private study.

Students Can Reach Their Potential

Our new History rooms are superb. Students have access to excellent resources and facilities in four well equipped rooms which have views of either the new courtyard or the surrounding farmland. The new rooms have ensured that teaching and learning within the department is focused and that all students will have the opportunity to reach their potential.

Creating Exciting Learning Zones

State-of-the-art technology, 21st century classrooms and not a port–a–cabin in sight! The English department is delighted with its new home in East block. Since moving into the block in October, the department has enjoyed teaching in the newly refurbished classrooms. Each of these is kitted out with the latest technology such as interactive whiteboards, visualisers and integrated speakers. This doesn’t just mean the days of dodgy plug-in speakers are over. It means that the already excellent teaching in the department can be reliably complemented with a range of multi-media resources.

Retractable walls and the central learning space mean that the department now has the ability to create exciting learning zones. And this is just the beginning. Other improvements proposed for the department include visually-stunning displays, a range of new furniture and a mini library.

Excellent ICT Facilities

The Business Studies room is a great environment for learning with floor to ceiling glass panelling making the room light and airy. The students love the break out space which enables them to move around and interact with each other allowing for different teaching techniques; with excellent ICT facilities the move to the East block has been fab!!

Diverse and Versatile Learning

In Religious Education we have two new rooms in which we have been very fortunate to have all new mini desks in one of our RE rooms. This offers us the opportunity to have versatile lessons within a new learning environment. Both rooms have wonderful views of either the new courtyard or the surrounding farmlands. We are thrilled!!!

First Phase Complete – South Block and The Sixth Form

On the 7th November 2011, the first phase of our building project was completed and several departments started teaching in their new homes. The new facilities are spacious and flexible, complemented with new IT equipment, to further develop the students learning.

The second phase is now well underway involving the refurbishment of the East block which will provide new teaching areas for English, History, Religious Studies, Modern Foreign Languages and Business Studies. The third and final building phase is scheduled to be completed in January 2013 and landscaping works will follow.

Independent Learning

The new development of the Sixth Form College has been received well by staff and students alike. It’s multi-use spaces and facilities focused on independent learning have seen students embrace the positive change. The atmosphere of the building is very conductive to A-level study and the new and improved work ethic of the students has been excellent.

Students have enjoyed easy access to a range of new technologies including brand new laptops, PCs, iMacs and netbooks. The range of study environments give students a choice that best suits them and the modern and functional dining facility is a great place for students to get together during breaks. The bright and open feel of the building makes it a pleasure to work in for all its inhabitants!”

Professional Environment

We are loving our new building here in ICT. We are lucky to have a fantastic new Mac suite and enjoy the large bright well equipped teaching spaces. Pupils are getting used to not spinning on the office chairs and are enjoying working in a professional environment.

Jo Burgess – ICT Department

Excellent Facilities

Our new Technology facilities are quite simply fantastic. Students have access to excellent equipment and facilities in dedicated subject specific rooms where staff are eager to get the most from all students irrespective of ability. The learning environment within the department is focused and purposeful with some outstanding design work being produced by all students. Technology subjects are now all on the same floor meaning it’s easier for students to access expert help from other teachers in the department.

Students have said “I think the new building is amazing”, “It’s good because its clean and bright”, “It’s loads better to work in”.
