What is Business Studies?
In very broad terms, Business Studies teaches students about marketing, production, human resource management, accounting & finance and external influences.
At the core of the subject lies the understanding of organizations within their economy, political and social contexts. Business Studies involves the investigation of how enterprise adds value by organising the production of goods and services.
Business Studies is not part of the National Curriculum therefore the subject is taught only as an option at GCSE.
Students in Years 10 and 11 are taught within the H-Block area of the school in a specialist teaching room equipped with PC’s. Currently there are three experienced staff who teach Business Studies:
Mrs Whittle – Curriculum Leader Business Education, College tutor, joined the school in 2001.
Mr Hubball – Head of Post 16 Learning, Teacher of Business Education, joined the school in 2001.
