The Languages Department currently offers the opportunity for studying one of two languages – French and Spanish.
At the end of Key Stage 3 pupils have the option of continuing with the foreign language they have been studying to GCSE Level or as an enrichment option. Students then have the option to go on to study AS and A2 Languages at our Sixth Form, Rainford College.
Languages are taught in 4 dedicated classrooms within one block which are all equipped with inter-active whiteboards. Overhead Projectors are available in each room andthere is also DVD access for each room. Two of our rooms are equipped with computers for whole class work or group activities.
As Spanish is our main language, we currently have a Foreign Language Assistant who spends time in school working with pupils of all ages and abilities.

Extra-Curricular Language Clubs
There are opportunities in the Language department to continue your learning outside of your lessons. Currently there is a French club available to those opting for French as a second language at GCSE however, this opportunity is likely to become available to those at KS3 who wish to have some fun learning a second language!
The Foreign Language Leader Award is available to a selection of our GCSE language students. The award provides candidates with the opportunity to improve their own language learning skills and then pass them on to younger Language learners through the delivery of short focused activities. There is also the possibility for this club to make links with our local feeder Primary Schools.
Visits abroad to France and Spain have occurred regularly over recent years. We are currently establishing links with schools Spain.
Pupils also have the opportunity to visit Liverpool F.C. Stadium for a tour of the grounds and a Spanish Language lesson at the Reducate Centre (see our gallery for this year’s photos).
